The Truths of Meditation

Meditation is a powerful way to achieve deep relaxation and sustained well-being.
What is Meditation?
It is hard to actually define what meditation is as it is different to each individual. There are many forms of meditation and different approaches and understandings of this practice.
The closest definition that would be spiritually, scientifically and generally agreed upon is that it is an altered state of consciousness of which the participant consciously decides to undertake.
Where does the idea of meditation come from? Meditation has been practiced for 100s of years, in fact, most religions and cultures across the world have and still do participate in some form of meditative practice. It just depends on the religious, cultural, and social group as to what it is called and to what level of altered state of consciousness is achieved.
Meditation is a powerful way to achieve deep relaxation and sustained well-being. We offer regular meditation classes in Berkshire and South Oxfordshire.
What Happens at a Group Meditation Session?
At open meditation, the session is very relaxed. When you arrive, you will be invited to find a space in the room. We start with some breathing exercises to help everyone relax. After that, there will be a few short meditations. These will either be guided or mindfulness-based and will focus on visualization, the breath, and body, and may include listening to music, meditating on a word, phrase or natural object.
How Will I Feel After Meditation?
After the session you are likely to feel a deep sense of calm and relaxation, which can be extremely refreshing and recharging. The meditations are designed to be deeply relaxing and calming, allowing you to let go of any anxieties and concerns. You will gradually notice a sense of inner peace and well-being after continued practice.
Do I Need to Come Every Week?
How often you come is completely up to you, but if you are able to commit to regular meditation, you will notice that over time you become more able to handle life’s stresses.
