The first part of five-point posture is bringing one leg in with the heel to your groin, tucking it underneath the other thigh (but not touching the thigh), and putting the other leg in front of it. This is important because the heel goes to the base of your spine where the base chakra is located, making a connection with your base chakra.  

Second, take your hands and put them on your lap with the palms facing upwards. You want your two middle finger tips touching. That’s another energy point. Now, put your arms out and your shoulders back.  

Next, move your tongue to the roof of your palette, just behind your front teeth. Make sure it touches the roof of your mouth. Drop your jaw, so your mouth isn’t closed, but it’s not fully open either. Drop your chin slightly so your head and neck are aligned with your spine. Focus the direction of your gaze slightly downwards toward, but not quite at, the tip of your nose. 

This is five-point posture. Point one is connecting your heel to the base chakra. Point two is your hands in equanimity pose. An upright posture and straight spine are point threePoint four is straightening your shoulders and dropping your chinPoint five is your tongue touching the roof of your mouth, your mouth slightly ajar, and your eyes looking ahead and down.

This posture creates a movement of energy in a figure 8 while you’re meditating. This means the energy coming in and going out, going up and down your spine, is fluid. It also means you have a straight back, and it’s comfortable.
